That\u2019s why, at Sail &amp; Protect, we believe this eclipse deserves to be viewed as important things should be: out on the water, with plenty of space, and without the hustle and bustle of a crowded viewing point.<\/p>\n<h2>An eclipse that sets with the sun<\/h2>\n<p>By the time the eclipse reaches its final phase in the Balearic Islands, the sun will already be very low, close to the horizon. This means one very specific thing for anyone who wants to see it properly: you need a clear horizon to the west, with no buildings, mountains or crowds of people blocking the view. On land, that\u2019s hard to find in the middle of August. At sea, that\u2019s exactly what you always have.<\/p>\n<p>Watching the sun set over the Mediterranean, with the water reflecting that shift in light, is not just a practical matter of visibility. The eclipse simply gives that philosophy an even more special reason.<\/p>\n<h2>How to prepare to view it safely<\/h2>\n<p>However spectacular it may be, a solar eclipse \u2014 even during its partial phases \u2014 can damage your eyesight if you look directly at it without proper protection. Before setting out to sail that day, it\u2019s worth bearing in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always use approved solar viewing glasses, certified to the ISO 12312-2 standard.<\/li>\n<li>Never substitute them for ordinary sunglasses, tinted lenses or other makeshift solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare your equipment in advance: there will be high demand for approved glasses and equipment throughout Spain on the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We take care of the route, the timetable and navigation.
